Colin Elves was not far behind for a solid&nbsp;third place.&nbsp;I&nbsp;won the compound on 1146 (back to shooting well in the wind), Gordon Sargeant came&nbsp;second (1018 I think) and John Spowage third (again not far behind) so a Grimsby 1-2-3! The previous year, Rory came second, being beaten by just 1 point. Despite arriving late on the first day and missing practise, Rory topped the leader board from the start. However, just a note to remind you of our 200 badges scheme. Score 200 points with 3 dozen arrows (scoring 9,7,5,3,1,M) at the appropriate distance and earn a badge. Score sheets available to download and print off on the <a href="events3.htm">score sheets page</a>.</p> <p>If you want a target at a specific distance, please have the courtesy to arrive before the targets are laid out (ie 9:45 - 10:00 am) or be prepared to put it up yourself.</p> <p>Outdoors, we shoot 6 arrows at a time. For your own health, please remember to wear a hat and suncream. The sun can be surprisingly warm at time and sunburn is surprisingly painful. Bring plenty to drink, especially if it is warm.</p> <p>The kettle has gone on its summer holidays, so please bring your own drinks.</p> <p><strong>15/03/2009 UK Record Smashed at County Championships</strong></p> <p>Friskney Bowmen's Wendy Rowell smashed the existing UK double Portsmouth Ladies Compound record, scoring 1177. Congratulations Wendy.</p> <p>Club Firsts: Colin Elves(shooting for Trackside) in the Gents Recurve, Emma Shadlock in the Ladies Recurve, Ian Smith in the Gents Longbow, Craig Burnett in the Junior Gents Recurve, Rosemarie Cawkwell (shooting for Immingham) won the ladies Longbow.</p> <p>Other placings: &nbsp;Graham modestly took 2nd place in the Gents Compound. Ian Forsyth and Rory Campbell took second and third respectively in the gents recurve and Sheila Oldham 2nd in the Ladies compound.</p> <p>Congratulations to all. Thanks to everyone who helped. The shop offers a selected range of books and accessories supplied and delivered by Amazon, Merlin Archery Center or Archery World.</p> <p><strong>31/01/2009 B.A.Postal league results updated</strong></p> <p><a href="../docs/ba2009.htm">Click here for latest results</a></p> <p><strong>31/01/2009 Handicap Improvement Medals</strong></p> <div><strong>Junior Handicap</strong> is a tie between Craig Burnett and Heather Davis, <br>Craig has gone from 39 down to 36 (so 3 point improvement) and Heather has gone from 55 to 52 (so also a 3 point improvement). </div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div><strong>Senior Handicap</strong> has been won by Ian Forsyth with a most impressive move from 45 down to 29 (16 point improvement). An honorable mention should also go to Emma Shadlock for going from 52 down to 41 (11 points) despite suffering injury for much of the season. Other archers who managed to reduce their handicaps were: Rory Campbell, Graham Crampin, Gary Griffin, Mike Hill and Ian Smith so well done to all!</div> <p><strong>28/01/2009 November Challenge Results released</strong></p> <p>The GNAS November Challenge results show Grimsby juniors doing quite well!<br>Rory Jackson,&nbsp;Craig Burnett, Thomas Hughes and Jake Gabbitas&nbsp;came 13th, 14th, 28th and 38th&nbsp;respectively out of the 80 entries in the U16 junior gents recurve class. Heather Davis made 7th of the 16 U18 junior lady recurves while Sam Jones came 12th out of 13 entries in the U16 junior gents compound class.<br>Well done everyone.
